With a deceivingly simple elliptical sleeved design, the Carbon Backstay acts in concert with the SHARK Wing to provide a stiff, stable platform to apply force. The Carbon Backstay is constructed in a single stage using prepreg carbon fibre, thus eliminating the need for bond lines, and the associated failures. As Carbon prefers not to bend, the HUDSON engineers had to design a custom cup and ball washer to accept variations in span and pitch. These washers also provide corrosion isolation for hardware passing through the Carbon Backstay.
