The Canadian Men's 8+ completed an undefeated season and Marit van Eupen won her third consecutive World title, continuing the dominance of Hudson boats in two ends of the rowing speed spectrum.
The winner of these two events have raced a Hudson 5 of the past 6 years at the World Championships with the USA 8+ setting a world's best time on route to being crowned Olympic champion in '04.
The third Gold medal this year was claimed in the Men's 4+ by the USA. An impressive final 250m provided the American men with their only victory.
The Dutch Men's 4- had their nose in front with 250m to go but ended up in Bronze medal position after a blistering sprint to the line.
The Bronze medal won by Canadian, Melanie Kok, was an inspired performance behind the three time champion and marks the first medal won in the new Great White hull.
Hudson Boats have now been raced by 56 medal winners at the Senior World Championships and Olympic Games since 1984.

HUDSON PREDATOR IS ON THE PROWL
PREDATOR; a complete new line of boats from HUDSON BOAT WORKS has succeeded the Sport line.
More than just a branding exercise this change represents the next evolution of construction and materials.
In a few words these boats are a multi-layer, single skin using new construction technology and proprietary carbon materials.
The hull shapes are out of the Elite mold and the preliminary testing tells us that these boats have market leading longitudinal and torsional stiffness.
This new line provides a top level racing hull close to international (FISA) minimum weight with a significant increase in hull durability and impact resistance.
After extensive research and development the Predator is now available in all boat classes for any new orders.
More comfort, more durability, more speed.
Be the predator not the prey.

July 2007
World Cup III – Lucerne July 14-15
Hudson boats had a good day on the Rotsee course in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The Canadian Men’s 8+ continued their dominating form in winning the last event of the regatta over reigning World Champions – Germany by a full boat length.
From the 500m into the race the Canadian crew appeared to have a different hull speed as they quickly moved out to an unassailable open water lead.
The first Hudson gold was in the Lightweight Women’s 1x with Marit van Eupen (Netherlands) continuing her dominance on this event since 2005.
A Great White hull has been provided for testing and we look forward to the feedback from this two time World Champion.
The Men’s 4- from the Netherlands put on a decisive move with 400m to go en route to crossing the line ahead of Great Britain and New Zealand.
The Dutch men were very pleased with the new boat delivered just prior to the regatta by our ace European agent – Bots Sports.
The Canadian Lightweight women’s 2x had a very strong final 500m to finish second; less than half a second behind a crew from Denmark.
The new Great White 1x and Hammerhead 8+ were on display and received positive feedback from interested onlookers.
The sharks will hopefully make their international debut at the upcoming World Championships in Munich.

March '07

Our second fully loaded container will be departing our new digs before the end of May with a co-load planned to dock in Melbourne unloading the Australian boats before heading to Auckland with our first fleet for New Zealand. There has been great interest generated by our Australian agent who is touring the demo fleet around to key regattas and coming away with multiple victories and bloody good feedback. The New Zealand market is hot for Hudson and with the help of a local agent the supply will begin catching up to the demand. Despite only having a population of 20.5 million and 4.5 million, Australia and New Zealand have more rowing clubs and rowers per capita than either the United States or Canada. The popularity of rowing in both countries is buoyed by consistently outstanding results achieved at the World and Olympic level. |
